Respected Town Centre Community Lifeline Needs Your Support

Liberty Tea Rooms & Community Hub was founded to support the people of Hemel Hempstead in a variety of crucial ways. However, due to the UK’s worsening economic climate, this vital community asset is now at risk of closure as early as September 2025.
The Hemel Hempstead branch of Reform UK has been made aware of the severity of the situation and we are asking for your help to save this pioneering and essential initiative.

Key Services Provided by Liberty Include:
💸 Debt Support: Their dedicated debt centre has supported 217 families, helping them clear over £3.1 million in debt, preventing homelessness and, in some cases, saving lives.
🫶 Crisis Support: A safe, non-judgemental space for individuals in emotional or financial crisis—offering a listening ear and immediate practical assistance.
🧩 Community Hub: A warm, inclusive environment where people can connect, feel valued, and rebuild a sense of belonging. 🎓 Training & Inclusion: Providing work experience and training for young people with learning disabilities, in partnership with local support services.
According to their website, Liberty needs approximately £40,000 to remain operational and has launched a crowdfunding appeal to reach this target.
Calling itself “more than just a place to have a cuppa”, Liberty attributes its struggles to the collapse in town centre footfall and the broader economic downturn affecting the whole country.
